Using an "old" motherboard for a system build

I'm trying to scrape parts together for an "average" development / some times gaming system. I don't need bleeding edge graphics, but I do need above average performance. So, the system will have a SSD, Intel i5 quad core processor, fast ram and a decent graphics card. With that said, I have this 2 year old ASRock Z75 Pro 3 sitting here in front of me. Bought it for a system build that never happened. Now I'm trying to decide if I should use it or pick up something newer. It's never been powered on.

Opinions?

z75 uses lga1155, so if your i5 is for lga1155 socket then why bother buying new mobo i say(unless it's dead somehow or your cpu is not 1155).
I wouldn't bother with it personally. Can get a brand new high end motherboard for £100-£130. Practically any new build PC will be sufficient for AT LEAST a year... which equals about £10 per month.

It just doesn't make sense to us older or sub-par equipment if you're buying everything else new.

I would normally agree with you, but I just saw the price of RAM :):ouch:

I'll keep shopping.
