Hello,
I have a X570 Asus tuf gaming motherboard and a Sabrent 1tb Gen 4 NVME currently installed. I have room for an additional NVME Gen 3 or 4 drive but thought about saving some costs and going with a Gen 3. If I place a Gen 3 in my 2nd compliant PCIe slot will each drive have its own independent speed or do both drives throttle down to the lowest Gen 3 speed? Future proofing would say get the Gen 4 but since I don't use the PC for anything beyond gaming I would prefer to save the money. Assuming of course I do not end up throttling down my current Gen 4 already installed by going to Gen 3.
Thanks for the help. I'm new to Toms Hardware but already find it very helpful.
