Using both mic and speaker jacks on the PC (but one doesnt work)

So my friend is basically setting up their pc and is using both 3.5mm jacks on the front of the PC and while one works when we set it as the default output device the other is barely heard at all and is very difficult and quiet. We dont know what to do as we have already tried reinstalling drivers and setting the mic as the default input which doesnt work. The default input is a headset that we are trying to set for just the mic. This is also on windows 10

One of those jacks is probably a mic input, the other is a headphone output. You may want to provide some better details here, what are you using exactly, do you have the audio drivers installed, cables properly wired to the motherboard? Are you using some type of adapter with the headset? Audio levels checked?
