using different series GTX cards in SLI ?

Hey guys sorry if this has been asked on my phone atm and didn't see a thread for it. I currently have one MSI GTX 1070 seahawk the Ek model and I want to run 2k ultra settings on all games. So I have the budget now that I would like to pickup a 1080 seahawk too same card but the model up. Can I use them together in sli and if so how would I ? What program or settings would I need etc ?

No, they have to be the same GPU. Can be different brands, but the chips have to be the same.

I thought direct x 12 was supposed to allow different cards to work together though ? Like an amd card working with an nvidia card ? When or how is that done?

So far that option is only available in one single solitary title and there is very little to indicate that it will become the mainstream norm.

Yeah, the only way to do SLI with your 1070 would be with any other 1070 with the same amount of VRAM
