hv two slots in my samsung syncmaster s19b150 led monitor, first is RGB IN 15 pins female, and second is DVI IN 24+1 pins female. Want to use DVI socket to my PC which has only VGA connection. So I hv bought a male to male DVI cable 24+1 pins. Also bought a DVI Female to VGA Male converter. The converter is having DVI female of 24 + 5 pins. Connected the cable and converter, but msg on screen reads CHECK SIGNAL CABLE DVI. Help me out please....

Solution
Very few monitors have a DVI-I port on them, yours like most is DVI-D.The VGA signal is analog and dvi-d is digital, so what you are doing isn't going to work. The simplest option would be to use a vga cable. To go from vga to dvi-d would require a converter that costs more than your monitor.

Ok thanx a lots mate. Frm scrolling Tom's Hardware Forums, somewhere I found a Wikipedia Page wherein I saw the design of my monitor DVI IN Pin and yes u r righto, it is DVI-D 24+1Pins in which the Flat Pin is only there whereas for Analog Signal the four pins around the Flat Pin i.e. 24+5Pins must be there which is in DVI-I design. Thanx bignastyid for your prompt reply.
the wikipedia link page is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface

A led monitor with only vga, not too many of those. What you have is an adapter not a converter. An adapter just changes connection, a converter converts digital/analog signals. Dvi to vga converters can be found for $50 but vga to hdmi or dp converters are easier to find for $25.

In order to go from DVI-D to VGA you will need an active converter. These cheap cables and adapters don't do digital to analog video signal conversion. I would recommend checking KVMSwitchTech as they offer a wide range of digital to analog video signal converters.
