Question Using ECC memory in ASUS M5A78L-M but need help. Is the ram supported

I have a Phenom ii x2 b59 processor and a Asus m5a78l-m motherboard that supposedly supports ECC memory. When put the ECC sticks in the board powers on but no display. The CPU fan is on and you fan is on . However when I put the non ECC ram in everything works find. Also not ECC is turned on in bios and set to good. Please advise.

What RAM are you using and is it on your motherboards Memory Support List?
From what i remember AMD motherboards can only use ECC "Unbuffered" memory, not ECC Buffered or Registered memory.

It can be limitation by the processor. The QVL list seems to show only 1GB and 2GB ECC sticks, while the Non-ECC is available on up to 8GB sticks. So maybe your processor is limiting. Try one stick at one time, or one matched set.
