Using ethernet plugs

Have got one ethernet plug connected to the router and then one upstairs connected to my ps3, can I add another plug and connect another device to it or do i need two plugs to connect to another port on my router for it to work?
If I buy another set of plugs will they still work or will they cause interference?

You can't put a splitter on an ethernet line if that's what you mean. Either run another line to the router or buy a switch to put near your PS3. A switch acts sort of like a splitter.
