Don't kill me I am new to the sync thing. I am upgrading from an intel to AMD ryzen setup. I do photography and some video editing and looking to add a 34" ultra monitor for split screening. I have heard that you have to use freesync with the AMD graphics cards but keep hearing about gaming stuff. Does it matter if it is G sync or freesync if I am only doing photo and video editing. Do I even need Sync?

If you are not into gaming. Freesync and Gsync would have no impact in your experience. Both technologies are for gaming when CPU and GPU are unable to produce as many frames as needed, to drop the framerate of the monitor.

Both video processing and photography are not that demanding. And your CPU and GPU would be able to handle pretty well to your need. Just buy an IPS monitor with high frequency to display them better.
