[SOLVED] Using headphones through an AOC24G2U monitor issues

Just bought a new gaming pc for my son with the above monitor. He is trying to use his headphones he uses for his x-box. It has a 3.5mm jack. The monitor is connected to the PC‘s GPU by a displayport cable. He plugs it into the microphone out socket. He can hear sound through it but if he talks in the headset microphone it doesn’t register it. if he plugs headphone jack into pc it all works fine. Is there a way he can plug headphones into the monitor and everything work ok? Monitor is a lot closer than pc unit. Will he have to use headphones with a usb plug to go into one of the monitors usb sockets? Or will he just have to plug into the pc?

The 3.5mm audio jack on that monitor is for earphones/headphones output only, it's not a microphone input.
