using i3-7100 on an ASUS mobo with BIOS version 2102

According to ASUS' website the motherboard that I'm using (H110M-K) is compatible with Kaby Lake processors as long as it's BIOS version is 3016 and above. Surprisingly, I checked the BIOS version on my own PC and it was version 2102. It seems that my cpu works without even updating the BIOS version? How is that possible?

Well the new bios will probably have the patch for spectre and meltdown, if that concerns you at all.
