[SOLVED] Using ICS to connect wireless router to PC, 192.168.137.1 now istead of 192.168.1.1 help

Using ICS to connect Netgear ac1000 wireless router to PC, have internet but router is broadcasting 192.168.137.1 now instead of 192.168.1.1, so I connect my PS4 to the router and its connecting with 192.168.137.x . I need this IP address to be 192.168.1.x on my PS4 so I can port forward the router for gaming, any ideas?

Do you have admin rights to your Netgear ac1000 wireless router?

The router's IP address range 192.168.137.1 is within the established private IP address range of 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255. That is that the available address ranges are intended for use behind a home router. Many, many small networks make use of those ranges. Many beginning with 192.168.1.1 for the home network router.

You have two choices: 1) change the router's IP address or 2) change the PC's IP address to match the router's current configuration.

Because there may be some reason for the router's IP being 192.168.137.1 then it is best to leave that alone.

Reasons being that there may be other devices already configured and established to look to that router at 192.168.137.1 to obtain (via DHCP) an IP address. Or make use of some set Static IP address.

In your situation, if I follow correctly, you will need a static IP address for your PS4. Plus reserve that IP address via the PS4's MAC.

Do note that Step 2 requires admin access to the router and uses a Linksys router for screen examples.

You should not need to change the router's IP from 192.168.1.1

Im leaving the router at 192.168.1.1. The PS4 will only connect to router with internet at 192.168.137.1. I tried going into network and sharing center and went to properties on the router connection and tried changing the IP address from 192.168.137.1 to 192.168.1.1 and I lose internet.

Why do you use your PC in between.

You are never going to get port forwarding to work in that configuration. The ICS function in your PC is acting as a NAT router. It is very simplistic and does not have the concept of port forwarding. The 192.168.137.x address is the ip created by the ICS function in the PC.
