I'm looking for a product which will allow me to record programs on my PC from by DishNetwork satellite system. Currently I record programs by scheduling them using the DishNetwork onscreen guide. When the program begins the satellite receiver send an infra-red signal to my VCR to begin recording. The program ends the receiver send an infra-red signal to the VCR to stop recording. I would like to be able to do the same thing using a PC instead of a VCR. NOTE: I don't want to have to schedule both the satellite receiver & the PC, I want the satellite receiver to be able to start/stop recording on the PC the way it currently does with my VCR.
Do you know of a way to control a TV tuner card like the Marvel G400-TV using infra-red signals?
There would be several advantages over a system like Tivo or Personal TV:
1.No subscription would be required like Tivo or Personal TV.
2.The amount of disk space could be easily expanded, unlike Tivo or Personal TV.
3.You would be able to burn favorite recorded programs on CDROM.
