Using M.2 as Boot and Storage Drive?

Hello so i am building a computer for one of my friends, and i haven't ever used a m.2 drive before in my personal rig. My question is if it should be okay to run the m.2 as boot drive and storage drive at the same time, since it is 500gb?

Its just another drive, just in a different package.

Are you sure you have a compatible "m.2" for the particular motherboard?
