I have cox internet at home, is there any way that I can use my WiFi away from home?

no. out of range you get no wifi. easy as that.

Actually, you might be able to.

As a cable subscriber you might have access to the cable company wifi hotspots in certain areas.

well yeah duh a WiFi hotspot would work....you can't use your own wifi anywhere other than in range of it.

And technically, he is paying for it, so it is his.

That's a bit like asking if you can eat the pizza in your fridge when you are not at home. WiFi has about a 300 foot range, you can't take it with you. But the wifi hotspot as above is a good idea to look into.
