Using my linksys WTR310N router as a repeater

Can I use my router as a repeater from my neighbors router with their permission?

I have the linksys WRT310N gigabit router. i will find out the primary routers type also. I know its a combo router/modem from AT&T. I think it only puts out a G signal so it may not be worth it. I tried hooking my router to the AT&T router with a eithernet cord and I ran the set up disk. I couldnt get anywhere.
