Question Using old drives

Hi, this may be dumb question but i don't want to do anything stupid either. I still have the hard drive from my original pc I built around 4 years ago. I have since built a new computer with all new components. My question is: Can I plug the drive from my old pc into my new one with a sata cable to retrieve files from it. My only concern is that the old drive was the only storage that my old pc had, so it has the os (win 10) on it. My new computer is also windows 10, but I don't know how this may conflict. Is it just like plugging in a usb drive where I can just pull the files from my old hard drive to my new one? thanks

Plug in the new hdd. Make sure yoir bios is set to boot from the new hdd, and you can boot to windows as normally. You can then copy files off of the old drive to the new drive.
