I just built a new PC.
Im using my old HDD that has read/write errors as a secondary drive for storage of unimportant files.

Can this old HDD slow down my PC or corrupt my new HDD?
It's currently completely formatted and 100% empty.

Solution
It could slow down booting operations. If it actually mostly fails, it could even prevent booting up as the system tries to read it.

New drive space is cheap.
With the relative low cost of storage, I would replace it. If it is 100% empty, simply unplug the SATA data. That is the easiest way to determine if it is affecting your system.

But unless you are using it, it shouldn't slow things down. But if you use it, chances are it will have reduced read / write rates. If it takes longer to find a file, that is slowing the system down.

I think you're right about boot.
Removing it reduces boot time by nearly half.
But other than that i don't see any operation changes.
Guess I'll keep it as an external
