Using old memory on new mobo ?

So my question is if I would to purchase (GIGABYTE GA-M68M-S2P AM3/AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 7025/nForce 630a chipset Micro ATX AMD Motherboard )Item#:N82E16813128424. Could I possibly use some older memory from a dell 8400 that had ( 1024MB-400MHz DDR2-400 PC2-3200, 240p DIMM, 1.8v) ? I realize that the new mobo asks for 800 speed and that my old is 400 speed. Would I just be able to run at 400 speed or would the mobo not even recognize the memory at all due to the speed being lower than the 800 that it is calling for ?

I am just trying to get rid of some old parts by using them rather than just throwing them out all together.

It probably won't work, but you lose nothing giving it a try. You can download the motherboard manual to check if the RAM frequency can be set as low as 200MHz (400MHz DDR).
