Question Using Optane memory to accelerate secondary data drive

Greetings. I have recently built a new computer using a Gigabyte motherboard (Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 rev 1.0) with an intel i5-8600K CPU. I installed an NVMe SSD into one of the M.2 slots where I have installed my OS (Win 10, 64 bit). I installed a secondary SATA HDD for data storage. The motherboard offers two additional M.2 slots, one of which I am hoping to use to install an Optane Memory module in hopes of accelerating my secondary data drive. I wrote Gigabyte and they replied that this would be of no value, since my OS's transfer speeds are already defined by the SSD's speed where the OS is resident. However, Intel says that I should be able to further accelerate the secondary drive, as supported by this article: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000027987/memory-and-storage.html.

MIght someone be able to clarify the situation for me?

Many thanks for the help
