I recently got a HP pre-built pc with i7-4790k and 980ti. My plan was to buy the pc(i got it for cheap), strip it of those two parts for my custom build, put in cheaper parts in the hp and sell it off.

Are there any flaws in my plan that I am not aware of? Will I have no problem using the i7 4790k and 980ti in my custom build? Also, will I still have the manufacturer's warranty?

I'm going for an aesthetic build so I'm not using any other parts from the hp prebuilt. I wouldn't worry too much about hp warranty since as soon as I transfer the parts over the warranty is donezo. If the manufacturer's warranty still remains on those parts is what I'm most curious about right now.

I'm really not understanding why you'd bother....
For an aesthetically pleasing build, you could move everything to a new case, add an SSD and replace the PSU (assuming the motherboard & PSU are decent quality).

Unless you have a colour scene in mind you're going for etc, then I guess I can see where your coming from. I still don't understand buying the HP though...... unless the rig itself was cheaper than buying the CPU & GPU seperately.....at which point, who cares about the rest of the HP rig? LOL.

As far as Intel & GPU manufacturers, I would imagine their warranty would still stand.

I'm going for the black and green build. It will look somewhat like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyo4p2nRQKo&list=FLQCAr1Wub_IqIA2CfrY-c3g&index=2

Mobo and ram are most likely very basic looking ones without heatsink so those two are a must replace for a build like mine which will have large side window and led-lit interior. The psu is a 500w which is just barely powering the pre-built hp system. I'm adding Kraken X61 to my build so the 500w wont cut it.

I got the hp prebuilt for around a grand. just the i7 4790k and nvidia 980ti would cost me 700~900 so I think i got a very good deal on this hp. I'm going to install mid-tier cpu and gpu in the hp and sell it for 400~500.
