Alright, so i have a pair of headphones and a clip on mic and i would like to use them both on my ps4. I would prefer to not have anything connected to my controller. I do have a receiver, and currently run my headphones through that to get the game audio, but currently can not connect my mic. I have come across two options, so far. This seems to be the better one: http://www.head-fi.org/content/type/61/id/975924/ but i can not find a usb headset adapter in my area, seems they all ship from china or japan, from what i have seen. Unless i have completely missed it. I looked on amazon and ebay, in addition to futureshop, best buy, the source, and a few local computer stores. Any advice there would be much appreciated. The other option i have found was http://sgcdn.startech.com/005329/media/products/gallery_large/MUYHSMFF.main.jpg which means i have to connect the headphones and mic to my controller, which a, i would prefer not having to do if i do not have to, and b, i would think anyways, the controller would not supply the headphones with enough power. Perhaps i am wrong with that as well. If anyone has any ideas on where to buy a usb headset adapter, i am in the toronto area. or insight on male to 2 female 3.5mm adapter and its capabilities. Or perhaps another solution, please let me know. I would very much appreciate it. Just as an fyi, my headphones are sennheiser hd 558s and my mic is the thermaltake chao echo. Thanks in advance!

the ps4 has an issue with having an output/input of sound from multiple ports. for instance using the optical for audio out and the control jack for mic in. this would result in hearing some sounds and not others in tests.

my thoughts are that a usb soundcard of some manner (or otherwise.... some DAC device which converts from the digital usb to analog 3.5mm is going to be required if he doesnt want to use the controller 3.5mm jack.
I have seen the second option done so it should work, as for the usb adapter for your ps4 most of them do ship from China because they're all made there and not in huge demand.

Have you tried looking for some in local stores? Maybe try Dick Smith, Jay bi hi fi. Also many pc stores should also have this adapter on them. Perhaps they'll even ship it to themselves for you. Also if you're lucky on ebay you'll find one for a few dollars with free shipping from China anyway.

Another option is you buy 2 usb to jack adapters, it would take up 2 usb slots on your ps4 though.

-good luck

Would the ps4 register separate mic and headphones? i was under the impression that we would have to trick the ps4 into thinking it is one, why i was going after the usb to 2 female adapter.. that might not be a bad alternative, if it works.

Sorry Im not 100% on that, but the ps4 should detect and change it's firmware depending on the device connected to that usb port.

Sorry I can't be completely sure, it works on pc but I don't have a ps3 or ps4. Although from other people an adapter will work.
