Using SSD with 6GB/s interface on M4A77TD

Hi guys, I've been reading about my motherboard (ASUS M4A77TD) and it says the storage supports 6 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), blue. Here's the link:

Does this means that it will be a waste if I'm getting the Corsair Force Series GT 120GB SATA 3 which supports up to 6Gb/s? Link:

No, it's not a waste. You will still be very impressed with its performance compared to a HDD.

Yeah, but...it's still won't run on 6Gb/s though...right?

Correct. It will run at SATA 2 (3Gb/s) speeds which are from 151MB/s to 300MB/s.

No it will not run @ the full sata III speed, But as Dereck47 stated it will still run circiles around a HHD.

The performance decrease is NOT near as great as you might think.

The Biggest hit is on Sequencial performance - NO Biggy as this is the LEAST important Parameter for an OS + progrm drive. What is most important is the Small 4k Random performance and SATA III SSD do not saturate a SATA II inerface for random 4 K read/writes.
Don't get me wrong there is a performance hit, but it Is Small and should not discorge you from getting a SATA III SSD and sticking it on a SATA II port - In fact that is just what I did for My wifes system, Stuck an agillity III on her computer.
Interesting to Not the Agility III scores NO better on sata III than when used on sata II.

Added When you do get around to upgrading which would you rather move to a "NEW" system.

I see. So, is it worth it to change my Asus M4A77TD to Asus M5A97 just for the SATA upgrade? It's cheap and I don't plan to overclock, mind you.

If your current CPU and memory and compatible and the only thing you're upgrading is your motherboard, then go for it.
You can get a new one on Amazon for as low as $86.
