Using Technicolor router(hathway internet) with Dlink router to extend range

I have two flats on different floors. I have a hathway wired internet connection (technicolor router) in one flat.
I have a dlink adsl router. I wanted to use it in my other flat. I want to use it as a access point/range extender for the hathway router in the other flat.
Is there any way to make it possible through ethernet cable?

Almost any router can be used as a AP. The term range extender is to vague and generally mean wireless repeater and that is a special function.

There are a million posts and youtube videos on how to use a router as a AP. This is a old one from this site.
