Using TV as monitor - image blur

Hi,
I don't have a PC monitor so I connected my computer to a TV via HDMI cable. The image displayed on the screen is always blury (i.e. not just the text).

TV: Goodmans LD2262D 22"
GPU: RX 480
OS: Windows 10 Pro

Only link I found containing the TV: http://picclick.ie/Goodmans-LD2262D-22-Digital-Freeview-HD-Ready-LCD-361855633756.html

Any help to resolve this or to make the screen less blury would be much appreciated. I realise the only solution may be to buy a PC monitor, which I plan to do anyway but not for a few months.

Thanks,
Michael

EDIT: Resolution I have running: 1280 x 720. Windows tells me that 1080p is my native resolution however I am almost certain the TV is only 1080i. When I select 1920 x 1080 text is impossible to see and the screen seems to flicker.

I had the same screen a few years back, i could never find a fix. Although i did make it much better. Go into AMD catalyst control center(might be called something else now not sure) And change the over scan option. This will make it slightly better for some people others not. As that overscan didnt work too well for me i made a custom resolution in the AMD Catalyst resolution editor that made a noticable difference to the clearance of the screen but was still slightly blurry. Also try changing your TV settings like sharpness etc. Hope this helps!

It's hard to find specs on that model. I've seen 720p listed, but also 1680x1050. Also saw one listing that claimed a 50 hz refresh rate. You can measure the length and width of the viewable area and divide to figure out the aspect ratio, or just go ahead and try 1680x1050 and see if it looks any better. Not sure about the refresh rate, but it might explain the flicker.

Note the link junkeymonkey posted above.

Even good quality TV's can't match a good monitor. In your case you have a cheap piece of junk TV, its blurry because it has a low refresh rate, poor image processing, and a whole host of other issues because its a low end TV. The article linked even cites the same issues you're seeing.

Buy a monitor. or at least a better TV

my 2 hdtvs are just as good or better then any monitor I ever had over crt ????? matter of fact I don't even conceder a ''pc monitor'' any more .

thing is my crt is still my preferred gaming display soooo much better then any lcd type -0- lag and dead nutts on . and great color

been using this now for well over a year and no complaints

over 3000 reviews and look how many of then use it as a pc monitor and happy

my buddy bought a ''better'' viszo 32'' and man it sucked as a pc monitor , I mean bad like what you describe above about that goodman
and paid a lot more money for it as well

you can kinda tell from its manual how well pc use is covered like some just say hook it up here and that's about it ,?? well don't count on it

or a few pages with pc use covered well and speced with some details , more of a safer bet

next best thing is end usere reviews see what real folks that got one is saying about it

No, not at all. The connection type is not going to make up for a poor quality screen.

PC monitors have much faster response times than tvs, and tend to use higher grade screens with better contrast ratios. Thats not to say there aren't really good TVs out there, but more often than not a monitor is going to be far better than a TV, for PC use.

really ??? I think you fell for the hype myself and your back to the quality of the pc use part of things not the tv part .. fyi

comes down to knowing what your getting not all hdtvs make good monitors but some are equal to or can be better

by the way the response time for this tv is the same as most any 1080p 60hz monitor ??? now what ??

ResponseTime 6.5 ms (gray to gray) = my hdtv . most 1080 60hz monitors are average of 5-6 ms I mean sure theres better but a hand full only

thing is if it was that bad would I be using it as my now main display ??? don't think so

Newegg has over 600 monitors with 5ms or less response time, 150 with < 3ms, and even 84 with 1ms. Far more than a handful.

I didn't say your TV was bad, it works for you and thats fine, but it also has a slower than average response time compared to monitors, but it is faster than most TVs. Thats why IN GENERAL monitors are better than TVs especially for gaming. Sometimes you catch one like yours, but for the most part they are worse.

In the end, this has nothing to do with the OPs problem with his monitor, its not yours, it clearly has a bad response time, motion blur issues, etc. He needs something else, anything else, even your TV if thats what he can afford.
