Using two different type of antennas on my 300N router?

I have a 300N router (as a repeater) with two external antennas of 5dB, but I want to replace one them (only one because I have a limited budget) because I can't reach a strong wifi. I want to buy a 16dB directional antenna; so, can I use my 300N router with a 5dB antenna and the 16dB antenna together?
If I use only the 16dB antenna (without the 5dB one), will I have a 150N router? Or have a poor wifi?

Solution
As you suspect you will get a 150n router. That is the magic of mimo it needs the antenna working in combination to get the higher speed. They do make special directional antenna that feed 2 signals in different radio polarities. They are really used for point to point applications but will work ok to a end device
