Using two routers with a single modem?

I have a modem that also works as a wireless router. A corner of my house gets a weak signal due to walls being in the way and distance. I have run an Ethernet cable to this room and would like to setup another wireless router there. I was wondering if I could have two different routers each with there own SSID connected to a single modem? How would I set this up? Thanks.

connect the Ethernet cable to router number one. then on router number two turn off dns server. let the first router be the dns server. on the second router set it up as a ap point if the firmware allows it.
