Using two video cards with Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L (Crossfire) ?

Hello,

I have a motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L (see http://azerty.nl/producten/product_detail/89/56123/ga-p35-ds3l.html for technical details).

And I have two video cards:

1. ASUS EAH4870/HTDI Radeon HD 4870 - PCI Express 2.0 x16 - 512 MB GDDR5 (http://azerty.nl/producten/product_detail/?ID=83542)

2. XFX Radeon HD 4870 - Grafische adapter
Radeon HD 4870 - PCI Express 2.0 x16 - 1 GB GDDR5 - DVI ( HDCP ) (http://azerty.nl/producten/product_detail/?ID=245815)

At the moment, I have video card #1 connected to this motherboard and video card #2 is not being used.

My question is, can I combine these two video cards (CrossFire) with my motherboard?

That board only has one PCI-Ex16 slot. No way you can install the second card.

Thank you for your help. Although it is a bit disappointing

Do you know what the other PCI slots are for? They are not x16 but x1 or something.

If I cannot connect these two cards, should I consider buying a new motherboard or buying a new video card? As you may have noticed I am trying not to spend much more money.

Your motherboard has two PCI-Ex1 slots and three PCI slots. These are for other expansion cards, such as sound cards, network cards, modems, TV Tuners, etc...

Unless you have a specific requirement for using Crossfire (games just are not performing as well as you'd like), I don't see any reason for an upgrade.

Alright, I'm trying to prepare for an upcoming game as I believe my video card is quite outdated. I guess it makes mose sense to buy a new video card then, which would cost me about 150 euros...
