Using USB type C and USB 3.0 on the same external hardrive

Need some help with an explanation
I have a transcend usb type-c hard drive. I unplug the cable and connect a usb3.0 cable to backup the drive to my desktop, I rename the drive from H to X in disk management and it works fine. Now both cables won't connect the eternal drive to my laptop. The drive still powers up but nothing shows up in connected devices or file manager. Please help!

Nope, I checked both, it also doesn't give me the option to safely remove the hard drive in the toolbar. Everything works fine on my desktop
