Question Usually Won't Recognize SATA Drives

I've been having a very strange problem with my computer not recognizing any hard drives I plug into it. Now, I have two m.2 slots, and the computer consistently recognizes my m.2 drives, but any SATA connections are not recognized, even at the BIOS level. I have a USB-to-SATA connector and plugging those same drives in through USB works perfectly. It seems like specifically the SATA slots in my motherboard are broken. Although, sometimes the computer will just wake up and recognize the internal SATA drives. And now I'm worried there's a deeper problem that's affecting my main drives too, since downloading files or transferring data between drives can sometimes cause my computer to crash, which doesn't sound related but might be a fundamental problem the Motherboard has with data storage.
Does anyone have advice on how to test or fix this to make sure exactly what the problem is?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
RAM: 32GB DDR5-4800 CL40
Motherboard: MSI MPG B650I EDGE - Bios: F7
GPU: Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 6750 XT

From holy bible of PCs, page 31:
* Please do not fold the SATA cable at a 90-degree angle. Data loss may result during transmission otherwise.
* SATA cables have identical plugs on either sides of the cable. However, it is recommended that the flat connector be connected to the motherboard for space saving purposes.
Other than that, MoBo replacement would be in order.

Yeah, I've checked the cables and even reinstalled them backwards. Tried multiple cables and everything. Sounds like I just gotta get a replacement.
