Usurpers in troupe

Okay, say you started a troupe, meant to play a specific game. You had
an entire chronicle written up, stories, chapters, and all. Midway
through a story based around one character whose player was unable to
make it, you decide to try out the new system. The other players like
the new system a lot, and one comes up with the idea that "hey, lets not
play this old game anymore and just wait for the new game for the new
system to come out, and keep playing this other game until then!" and
the rest of the group agrees, so to keep them happy you scrap all the
hard work you did on the chronicle and start writing stories for the new
game. Flash forward a few months, and the person who had this idea
keeps asking to borrow your books. Since you consider him a good friend
you see no reason not to lend them to him. Then after a night of
gaming, running the new game that they all agreed upon, one of the
players asks you to the side about what they can do with their character
from this other game they've been playing on the side. It turns out
that a few weeks after suggesting that we not play the game that you
worked so hard on, the one player started running stories of his own for
that game for the troupe, and they've all not mentioned this until the
one player didn't think and asks.

Who would feel ultimately insulted and upset about this? Obviously they
aren't questioning my Storytelling ability, or they would just not play
my games at all anymore. The thing I am most upset about is the fact
that I'd had all these stories written up, that I'd worked quite hard
on, including specific details, and they all liked their characters, but
as I said felt they liked the new system better. On top of that, though
it's my favorite game and don't mind if somebody else Storytells (yay! I
actually get to PLAY for once!?!?!?!?) and they know this, they keep it
a big secret and don't mention anything about it.

The circles in which I've moved have always regarded hijacking another
ST's players as a serious breach of etiquette. Your usurper is a jerk, yes.

Well, there's certainly no question that you've been wronged by this
usurper. However, what's done is done and you can't really stop them
from playing this game without you. The best you can do is deny them
access to your books which would only slow them down and probably create
even more hard feelings (not good if this troupe is still playing other
games with you, too.)
I think you need to decide how much this offends you personally and
go from there. Are you upset enough to sever contact with the usurper
and/or kick him out of any other games you may be running? Are you only
mildly perturbed and thinking of letting bygones be bygones? Is the
real insult only that they didn't bother inviting you to play?
Answering those questions for yourself should help you decide on a
course of action.
