I imagine this is probably correct. Nowadays fewer and fewer things come
with a printed manual. Oftentimes there is a manual in .pdf or .html
format on the first disc - try having a nosey there.

I don't know if that's how it was supposed to be but you're not missing
much. Neither game came with much of a manual, just a little booklet that
doesn't tell you anything you don't already know if you've ever played a FPS
before. If you can't pick it up, shoot it.
