utorrent killing internet completely

What router are you using? If the torrent is drawing all your bandwidth, some routers will have a hard time with that and cause other devices to lose connectivity. A good router can still allow others to use the internet despite the bandwidth being maxed out.

Utorrent shouldn't be the problem, but I think you should check out an alternative. Tixati is a great ad free solution to torrents. http://www.tixati.com/

not even drawing half mate, i have 200mbps (25 MB/s) and utorrent cuts my internet off even at like 6-7 MB/s its only been doing it for past month or two, same router, i think it could be router though as its happened on two isps with same router. il try another torrent downloader though to make sure.

What router is it? I just cant see how utorrent is causing your network to go down for everyone else.. it just does not make sense unless your router is incapable of handling all of the connections. It could be that too many peers are connected and the router cant handle it. Just a guess.

Virgin super hubs if that is the router indeed a lot of routers that connect to virgin suffer from an issue were if the network wireless speed is set to high they show this problem. i use to have to turn it down in the superhub setting's its a common problem for virgin users and torrent. Still try qbittorrent first

im not using the hub for internet guys, i have the new hub 3.0 in modem mode with a buffalo 1166d as the router, this hasnt always been a problem just over the last few months.

yeah its the router, its doing it with other torrent programmes too.

qbittorrent

Buffalo 1166d is a budget router with 100Mb LAN ports. I cannot find any information about it, but my guess is torrent is maxing out the number of connections it can support. Try limiting torrent to something like 100 connections and see if that helps.

for a budget router is sure packed the punch, 867mbps 5ghz, i dont use it now anyway guys, i got a better wireless card and use the modem 3.0 supplied by virgin media and get a constant 208 down 12 up now.
