UV cold cathode?

Let me start off by saying I know nothing about putting a light in my box.

Second let me say I am going to water cooling and I have heard it is good to have a light in your box because it kills algea/bacteria. Is that true?

Third is there any big difference between brands, the ones I have seen are Vantec, Coolermaster & Thermaltake? If anyone can make recommendations I would appreciate it.

Fourth, where should I put the light or does it matter?

Lastly, are there any specs on the lights that I should particularly pay attention to?

They are just for fancy. I have some green / yellow UV dye in my water loop, glows up nicely under UV light.

As for killing bacteria, a drop or two of Water Wetter will help you with that problem.

There really isn't much of a difference between manufacturers when it comes to cold cathodes. If you want it to blink to music or something then go for one of those, if not just get the cheapest one you can find. I got a 12" uv cathode for about $5 or so that is about as generic as you can get and it has been working fine for over a year.
As for placement, if you have a window just put a 12" light on the bottom of the case right up against the window side of the case. That usually turns out looking ok. If you have a giant nVidia card that eclipses the upper half of your case just put another 4-12" cathode in the top of the case.
