Im using a ViewSonic VX2458-C-MHD with a GTX 1070. When turning on V-sync it turns on some sort of dynamic range and makes really drastic changes dependent on whats showing on screen e.i shadows on games or dark tabs. Any help/opinions? thanks.

I'd say its useless. I have a lenovo g27c-10 165hz monitor with freesync and when freesync is enabled i get some weird flashing effect mostly on the edges of my screen when i am on some game's loading screens and when i turn it off the issue is completely gone. I dont see any difference whenever it is on or off so i'd say if you want a freesync monitor it needs to be a good one

  1. For this to work, you have to be able to keep it above 48 FPS.
  2. Nvidia you have to use Display Port for Free Sync support
Have you installed the monitor's drivers?

I could see some type of compression maybe being necessary and causing color issues, but this is only a 1080p monitor so that doesn't seem likely. Have you gone through the monitor's menu and looked at anything that might alter the image?

Only a 6-bit panel, that might not help with the colors too much.
