can I burn a VCD on a CD-R that is readable in a home DVD-VCD player?
I have made a video for a small ( 100 copies ) distribution via VCD, can I burn my own or do I need to pay to have this done?

Yes you can burn a VCD on CD-R but some DVD players do not like certain CD-Rs, and the sucky DVD players do not play the VCD format at all! Go to vcdhelp.com for which DVD players play what CD-R's. Hope this helps

thanks, that is an excellant site..
these discussion forums are wonderful

I just got back from Asia where VCDs are everywhere, the quality is excellant & economically priced, 2 VCDs per movie. My hotel had a VCD player in the room & I enjoyed it imensely.
I do nto think I have seen much of this format in the US.

Oh, re international travel, the 767 from Japan to Seattle had 60 people on it!.. I stretched out over 4 seats!

again, THANKS!!!

No Problem..but just a little information..here we see VHS as like the minimum standard of a movie, well in asia, its a VCD instead of VHS..also its by far better quality then a tape..not talking about the illegal bootlegs

I would never buy a bootleg, but..
the bootleg movies are 100 bt in BKK ( $2.00 for the 2 disc set ) and demo's i've seen are excellent quality...
the retail versions are 450 bt = $10.

Most current DVDs do not read CDRs - now ones are coming out that will read (and support) CD-R(W) and MP3, as well as CD, VCD, S-VCD, DVD etc. Going for ~ $300 in Tokyo at the moment.
