Hello,
I have VDSL2 broadband with my provider and am in need of a new VDSL2 router/modem.
I have browsed many sites etc looking for something suitable and i'm heading toward buying a seperate modem and router as from reading this is the overall better choice.
Apologies in advance as I am no networking wizard hence my being here :)
My connection speed allows me up to 40mb/s down and 5mb/s up if this helps anything.
I need good wireless coverage as we live in a relatively large house and wireless with my current ISP provided modem/router combo is no good.

After some research I found these two products:

*DrayTek Vigor 130 ADSL/VDSL Ethernet Modem

*Asus RT-N66W N900 Router

Am I right in thinking i can use these both for my internet? Any thoughts and suggestions are a huge help and if any additional info is required let me know :)

Thank you all in advance
Castodius.

Some people prefer a separate modem and a separate router, there are a few decent combo modem/router such as Netgear D7000 and TP-link VR900AC.
The DrayTek Vigor 130 modem should be fine. Another alternative is to get Huawei HG612 3B for the modem.
There only so much you can get for a wifi router, you may want to look into wifi access points.

If i went with seperate modem and router is this relatively simple to set up and get going or does it require alot of knowledge?
I was actually looking at the netgear D7000 before looking at the seperate modem/router option, I did see alot of reviews about the ethernet ports packing in alot but these are reviews of only some and not others. I have severaaal devices that will be directly connected to the router and several that are wireless.
Thank you for such a quick response Suztera :)

You may have have to configure the modem to use it as well as your router depending on who is your ISP. For ethernet devices, you shouldn't need to configure anything once you configured the router. For wireless devices, you will have to either connect to the new wireless SSID with its own password (your password if you configured it in the router) or change it to broadcast your old SSID and password.

Thank you! Nice to find helpful advice 😉
i shall go browse some more now and decide what I will do :)
Thanks again Suztera
