I currently have an i7 4770K @4.4, and a Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX Vega 56 8 GB on the way. I am looking to upgrade. The Vega 56 was an impulse buy, for I was looking at RX 580s, but with the high price, I went up a level. I might as well do the same thing with a new monitor. But I expect to play out the life of this system for a while, so can I approach making use out of one of these curved Viewsonic 27" monitors?

OK. Trying to play by the rules. What are the statistics I should look for in a new monitor? What will fit perfectly with an i7 4770K at 4.4 GHz, 16GB of DDR3 Ram, and a Vega 56 8GB GPU playing Baldur’s Gate III at max settings?

1. Country: US

2. Focus: Gaming, yet with a focus on RPG.

3. Resolution and Screen Size: Eye Candy. 2K. 1440p, but can be talked down to 1080p if experts agree that my i7 4770K and Vega 56 will bottleneck a 1440p 144hz widescreen monitor.

4. Refresh Rate: 144hz, unless a bottleneck.

5. Money: Up to $300, but the closer to $200 the better.

6. Brands Preferred: ViewSonic

7. Why: No good reason. Will go for a different brand if it is the best option. However, my company ordered several large ViewSonic products, and the sales representative offered to let me use his personal log-in to get any company discounts that he would get, so I might see what ViewSonic has first. It may not be as good as Prime Day or Black Friday. Besides, back in the day I loved my 17” and then 19” and then 21” ViewSonic CRTS. Nostalgia will fade quickly with a rational argument and a great deal.

8. Buying More Than One: No, just looking for the one.

9. How Many Displays Can Your GPU Support Maximum? And what GPU and driver version are you using if applicable? I’ll keep the Vega 56 up to date. I will have a 2nd monitor, but not a new one, likely an old 22” something.

10. What Port Do You Want To Connect To (ex. DVI-D, HDMI, etc). HDMI unless a newer one is needed.

11. Is This Monitor A Primary Display Or A Secondary Display? Primary

12. Is This A Secondary Display For A Laptop? Desktop
