Vega 56 or GTX 1070?

Greetings,

I want to buy a 450$ GPU .. I was going for the 1070 but then the vega 56 came out and beat the 1070 in some games.

If I will go for the vega i will wait for the aftermarket cards of course.

I will use it for gaming but more importantly for mining.

Specs:
Ryzen 1600
Gigabyte B350 Gaming 3
Corsair vengeance 16GB 3000Mhz
XFX proseries 550W PSU

The Vega 56 performs a better than the 1070 for the most part, and if I recall, in 1 or 2 games, might touch the 1080 in performance.

The 1070 is also currently overpriced due to cryptomining. I'd say that, unless the 1070 is notably less expensive, go with the Vega 56.

EDIT: However, if power draw is a concern, then the 1070 becomes more compelling.

EDIT #2: Ah, I hadn't noticed the mining part, I saw "gaming" and then assumed that was exclusively what you wanted to use the card for. In terms of mining, the 1070 is better, if you're mining Ethereum. That may not be true for other cryptocurrencies.

If you can get Vega for more or less same price , then vega is ok .If not then buy gtx 1070 .With the gtx 1070 u can get around 32mh/s @180W and with the Vega 56 its around 37mh/s @ 250w .both cards have to be powered down as low as possible to achieve that .You can try flashing the vega 64 bios and use the power limit and it mas increase the hashrate in vega 56 around 40mh/s
