Hello,
I can't be the only in the entire world facing this. I recently bought two Vega 64's, plugged them, and tried to play some games, and that was exactly when my problems started, I tried running every game I own, some will crash immediately even before loading, some would make it to the very beginning of gameplay then crash, some would crash after 10-20 minutes of gameplay. I literally tried EVERY SINGLE GAME I HAVE.
So, I tried a few things, let me go through what I tried:
I took out one gpu, completely uninstalled the drivers, and installed them again, tried to run games, gameplay would be smoother, that's if it would work first place, so crashes persisted, with the same behavior..
I went ahead then and completely formatted my system, it's a good time to mention my components:
i5 4690K
corsair h110i gtx
msi z97 gaming 7
corsair veng. 4*4gb 1600mhz
corsair hx1000i
hyperx 480gb ssd
and the two vega 64's
back to formatting, i have win10 pro 64bit, activated and genuine of course, with all the latest updates.
So, I formatted the system, made a complete format, installed chrome, installed amd's driver 17.10.3 (latest driver as of moment of writing this), installed steam, made steam discover my gta5 files, the game installed the necessary redist programs, done all the necessary system restarts at the proper times (i mean of course i did), and then ran gta5, loading to story mode, in the sky coming down to trevor in a cutscene doing crazy stuff, right when the game handled me the gameplay, crash.
keep in mind, this is a fresh installation of windows, absolutely no third party apps.
it's good to remind you, i tried all of the above with one and two gpus, results were pretty much the same.
except for one thing, when i ran the two cards together, what should happen normally is, the top one stays on, with the RADEON logo always on, and the GPU Tach LEDs (a row of LEDs above the power connectors that indicate load), the first LED of the lights red, meaning it's ready to do stuff, and the second gpu, the bottom one, should have the RADEON logo turned off, and the GPU Tach first LED lit green.
^^ that is how it should be, in my case, the bottom gpu was going crazy, the radeon logo would keep on turning on and off, the tach led would keep switching between red and green, so the card would reach 70C if I'd leave it, without any kind of load, just on the desktop, idling...
One thing I know, the rest of my components are 100% fine, I borrowed my friend's 980 ti, and it ran perfect.
another thing i know, my i5 could possibly, very possibly cause a bottleneck, thing is, i haven't even made it to the part to notice the bottleneck first place, crashes all over the place, sttuttery and shit gameplay if it happened...
I submitted a ticket to amd, auto reply and that's it.....
at this point, all I can do is just cry in my bed, and pray for salvation. 🙁
