[SOLVED] Vengeance LPX "stock" frequency

Hey there. Thinking about upgrading from 2x8 to 2x16. I'm considering a set of vengeance LPX 2666mhz, as this is the max frequency my motherboard supports.

The specific product I'm thinking of getting is this https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0134EW44S?tag=pangoly03-20 (please say if there's any red flags I'm too dumb to notice).

However, I keep seeing everywhere in consumer reviews that 2666mhz can only be reached through overclocking, and that the actual frequency is 2133mhz.

What's this about? Is it still worth getting?

through overclocking means the 2666mhz is an XMP one, with 2133 JEDEC speeds. if your cpu does support 2666 jedec, and the motherboard too, then 2666 jedec will be able to be achieved.

My motherboard is a relatively cheap Mini ATX Gygabyte H310M S2P. The CPU is a regular i7-9700 (not K).

I think you will find the default speed is 2133.

Then you enable xmp in the bios to get 2666 speed.

Mobo specs show support for xmp.

You might want to update the bios if needed and test before doing the swap.
