Which is better:

Verbatim Store n Go or WD My Passport usb 3.0

I would go for the WD Passport as i have one and it's been totally reliable for over 2 years and still going strong.

Verbatim, on the other hand, don't make hard drives. They just buy them from one of the manufacturers who do make them and fit them in to a Verbatim enclosure. So you just don't know who manufactured the hard drive. I prefer to know that kind of information so I always buy external hard drives which are totally made by the drive manufacturer, that means WD or Seagate.

And in my experience WD ones have always been more reliable that Seagate ones.
