Here is my parts list for my built. I have never done this from scratch before, only upgraded some components in my current ancient rig ( I am running a Pentium 4...) So if you guys could be so kind as to look it over and make sure everything is compatible...or suggest more appropriate components.

I will mostly surf the web, do HD movie editing and would like to be able to play the fancy games... I am absolutely certain that I want the i7. Everything else is up for debate. I am looking at buying asap (tomorrow). I don't know anything about overclocking, but would like to get into it. I am not interested in crossfire or SLI. (Should I be?)

Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920

ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

EVGA 896-P3-1255-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP

CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Antec TruePower New TP-650 650W Continuous Power ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V V2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE

Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

SAMSUNG DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S223L LightScribe Support

With the OS my total is $1237, incl. shipping...
Now, since I have never built a complete system I am sure that there are things I forgot. Feel free to add the additional neccessary items. I have all the essential peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse...), but I have no idea if I need to buy additional connecting wires, thermal paste, coolers, or whatever else there may be... Should I add an aftermarket cooler?

Thanks for your help, guys. I am excited to get this project underway and finally replace my old Zuse Z1. :wahoo:

The RAM is part of a good combo deal....
My current monitor displays 1680x1050, but I plan on upgrading in the near future...
I am surprised to hear that the Antec 900 might be too small... What would be a reasonable alternative?

Thanks for your input...

Well...any full atx tower should do, antec has good cases, thermaltake has good cases as well. I would go to www.tigerdirect.com and look for a good atx full tower from a good brand. It should be around 100 dollars + and - depending on brand :)
-It might be to small becuase your video card is 10.5 inches in length and it might compete in space with your hard drive and optical drive becuase the mid tower might not be deep enough. However it all depends where the hardware is placed, if its placed so that the video card and hard drive are lower or higher then each other in the case, it might fit but i wouldn't risk, +a full tower is better cooling for a hot card and hot processor.
