My problem is that whenever I boot up (this is with no OS installed) it hangs at verifying DMI pool data.
I've tried several fixes including trying to boot with the bare minimum (No DVD drive 1 stick of ram etc) just hangs. I've tried changing the SATA slot and the connectors but with no luck. I tried clearing the BIOS, using the fail-safe bios settings, slowing the RAM speed down, changing the BIOS from native IDE to Native RAID but none of these worked.
If I boot from an installation CD-ROM it will get past the verification. It is extremely slow during the installation. I get to the part of the install where it has you choose the HDD but it does not detect a HDD. So I reset and looked in the BIOS. The BIOS detects the drive just fine. I thought maybe it just needed the drivers so I went back in the installation and when it asked for drivers I put the CD that came with the MOBO in and found the driver folders for SATA but the install said no drivers were found that were compatible with the hardware. I tried downloading the drivers from gigabyte but those also didn't work.
I tried booting with a HDD that has an xp installation already on it from a different comp but it had the same problem.
As a last ditch effort I borrowed a floppy disk drive to see if I could flash the bios or boot to DOS but this also hung at the verifying part. Tried flashing the bios from inside the bios using q-flash but I got a disk access error.
Is there something wrong with the MOBO? or could it possibly be my HDD?
