(Verizon) Sell an iPhone on contract/Keep SIM card?

I have an iPhone 5S on a family plan with Verizon, the contract isn't up until December of this year, but I'm in serious need of rent money, so I've jumped off the Apple ship. Is it possible to sell my iPhone one eBay before December? It is an unlocked device and I have no problem paying the contract bill until December since the SIM will be in a new, cheaper CDMA device. Is this possible to sell already?

You already own the phone, and the price you'd get for a used 5S won't really make much difference at all after you buy a new phone to replace it.

If the phone is unlocked, you can do whatever you want with it, the contract is for service not for the phone if it's paid for already.
