Vertex 3 240GB on the way

I have a 240GB Vertex 3 on the way to me for a new build. I've built several units in the past but ssd's are new to me. I've read that updating the firmware in new ssd's is a good idea but is it necessary for this brand new release? I've not done this before so it will be new to me but want to start the new system off on the right foot.

The easisest thing to do is simply check and see if there are firmware updates for your ssd and your motherboard. If there happen to be updates, then go ahead and do the updates.

In addition, you will probably want to tweak Windows for optimal use with a solid state drive. Here is a link to a web page with several excellent how-to articles:
