Hello,
I'm making my first post on this beautiful forum for a problem on my girlfriends gaming laptop.
The problem has been apparent from time to time for a few weeks now. Updating gpu-Drivers doesn't seem to fix it.
I'm a AMD nerd and doesn't know anything about Nvidia software/UI, so I'm asking over here.

I have connected her Laptop to one of my monitors via HDMI, and the problem does not reproduce on the monitors while extending the laptop to the monitor.
I'm presuming the LCD or the LCD connector could be broken...

Anyone that has a fix or knows something ?

thank you.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What is the make and model of your laptop and it's SKU? Use GPU-Z and take a screenshot of what you see, then pass it along for us to take a look. In the interim period, check to see if your laptop is pending any BIOS updates.

Updating gpu-Drivers doesn't seem to fix it.
Did you use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(Intel, AMD and Nvidia)? You're advised to manually reinstall the latest GPU driver in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

thank you for answering to my call for help,

the Laptop is a Gigabyte Aorus 15P, Intel 11th gen. presuming SKU equals S/N, here's the serial number : SN21280J000182.

i Did not yet completely manually remove and reinstall the drivers, which is the next step on my list.

Another question:

i'm not used to seeing this because i've always had a desktop, but is it normal for latops to use the integrated graphics from cpu for daily tasks ?

i Have no idea why, but it feels kind of wrong on a gaming laptop.

I'll try completely removing the bios and GPU drivers and reinstalling them manually, but i'm scared it's a LCD problem.

as always, thanks for helping

Yes, very typical for the integrated graphics to handle most tasks. Uses a lot less power typically.

I agree, seems more like a display issue.

But a lot depends on what your HDMI port is connected to. It is common for the integrated graphics to act as a pass through to the integrated display, so hopefully the HDMI port is connected to the Nvidia chip. This is usually not well documented, but you can check under Device Manager. On a display, it should have location in the general tab which will tell you what it is hooked up to.

checking whether the HDMI was connected to the integrated graphics or the 3060 was one of the first things i checked. it was correctly working under the nvidia chip and showed no error, lines or flickering on the external monitor.

uninstalling and reinstalling a stable version for december 2023 seemed to have calmed down the flickering for now. i'll stress test the nvidia gpu to fish for flickering and somehow find a way to stress test the integrated cpu.

if any flickering occurs, i'd be out of ideas and would proceed to open the pc to check if the LCD connector is intact...
