Vertical lines of dead pixels on laptop screen

My laptop has lines of dead pixels all down the left side making half the screen unusable. At first it would only happen sometimes on parts of the screen but it got a bit of a slap against the glovebox in my car and now its like this constantly. It looks fine on another monitor. Should I just replace the screen, or could it be the connectors/cable that are damaged?

Interestingly the lines change colour depending on what I have open on the usable part of the screen e.g. a mostly white page like a Word document would cause the dead pixels directly opposite it to change. Before it got the slap the lines would ONLY show up if I had something white open

For a time i could put pressure on a spot near the connector and it would become normal again as long as i kept the pressure there, but that doesnt even work anymore. I tried reseating the connectors too. I've already taken it apart a bunch of times so i can easily slot in a new screen, but i dont know if that will actually solve it. Does it look like a problem with the screen itself rather than the cable? I dont want to buy a screen and find thats not the problem so I ask for the help of someone who knows what this might be

Another thing i forgot to mention was at the top of the lines where the colour is thicker, that portion of the lines shows up even on the boot screen when the screen is completely black and the rest of the lines are invisible

This is the screen. Easiest solution is to by a lid for your laptop from eBay, depending on the model it should be readily available. Lids happen to be easy to replace too, usually less than 30 minutes, quicker than just a cable or screen. I've done this on several laptops all with good results.

By lid do you mean the entire top half of the laptop? If so would that solve the problem whether its the connector or the screen itself? Ive been advised by others that it could be the connector or even the soldering on the mainboard, in which case i have big problems, so if replacing the whole lid works I would be delighted. The connectors are all plug and play. That's the main reason I would advocate this type of replacement, no glue, soldering, or other funky problems to deal with.
