Hi, i'm with telstra and for the last past year the internet has been very slow like 0.06 or 0.03 Mbps (the max I have ever hit is 6 Mbps) and I really want to change ISP since it is so slow by law am I entitled to leave my current plan (adsl2+ 1000gb) without paying, waiting or doing anything?

(I live about 900m from the nearest exchange and I use the modem/router that they gave us)
my pc is quite high end so that is not slowing it down
I connect via ethernet and the modem is about 2m away

-Thanks

Normally, If you have an Internet issue then you contact your ISP provider...

If you contact consumer affairs they will offer better legal advice regarding your rights. Telstra may try to charge you a cancellation fee. Someone coming over.? Your joking right!!

They said if we want to cancel it with paying 3 diffrent people have to come over and try fix the problem

Normally, If you have an Internet issue then you contact your ISP provider. They can (or the Modem manufacturers telephone support) establish with some checks over the phone if its your end that has issues.

Slow internet can be one of a number of things. Bad configuration, poor line filters, failing Modem.

And here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/15091/windows-7-why-internet-connection-so-slow

If its your end, you pay if a technician has to come out and fix it for you. If it's their end (That is up to the house) They have to fix the issue for free.
