Hi,

I'm new here.
This is the situation:
In my office I have 2 pc with very similar configuration. 16 GB ram and similar CPU (I7 4790 vs I7 6700).

When I try to update an Excel pivot, or simply put or remove a filter on a column the performance is very different.
For example, If I insert a filter on a column, the I7 6700 takes 30-40 seconds, the I7 4790 takes 20 minutes!
Where is the difference?

Any idea?

Thank you,
Marco.

Solution
1.first of haswell uses ddr3 ram while skylake uses ddr4,if the operation can take advantage of faster ram it will run faster on the 6700
2.better iGPU again if it uses cuda/openGL to do the job it will be faster on the newer one.
3.Intel improves on the core each generation, even though everybody tells you that they don't.
Skylake can handle a lot more instructions at the same time then haswell did.
