Hey guys, I have been having this issue for around 2 weeks now, and I cannot figure out what the problem is, when it comes to computers, I know my way around, but I cannot seem to figure this one out.

So basically what happens is no matter what game I am playing, I am getting this really weird lag spike, where after playing for around 2 minutes my pc freezes for 3 - 5 seconds, sometimes it can last up to 10. This is just making gaming unplayable, and I cannot fix it. The lag spikes are the worst in "Rainbow Six Siege" and "H1Z1".

What I have tried:

- Reinstalling GPU Drivers
- Doing a Virus scan / clearing viruses
- Reinstalling all games / steam
- Checked all part temps (Stable)
- Ram Test
(I probably forgot a bunch as it is 6AM, but I have tried nearly everything, trust me.)

Specs:

CPU - Intel i5 4690k 3.5 ghz
GPU - gtx 1080
RAM - 8gb ripjaws
PSU - 750 watt Corsair
Motherboard - Asus Z97-A
Hard Drive - SSD Sandisk 480GB / 1TB HDD

The only thing that I have actually found that I think may be causing the issue, is whenever I am gaming, my "Memory" usage is at 80 - 90%, but never usually goes above that, I am not really sure if this is normal since I never really payed attention to this before.

If someone can figure this out I would greatly appreciate it, I am sick of having a beast PC, and not being able to game Lmfao..

Solution
are your computer using all cpu cores?
you can check using msconfig -> boot -> advanced options window

also, maybe your pc is creating virtual memory on you hdd when it reach a high % usage

How do I do this with a game such as Rainbow or H1Z1, because I cannot find event logs anywhere in the game files.

My CPU is running on all 4 cores, but this issue seemed to start happening maybe a week after I bought this SSD and started using the HDD as a backup, so this could be it. I am going to try to take it out completely and game.

I would like to thank you very much, all I did was take my HDD out and it is working perfectly fine. I really do appreciate it. I find it very weird that the hard drive is causing this issue. Does this mean I need to buy a new hard drive? Or is there a way to fix the issue?
